I have worn Be Lenka shoes for years and am always impressed with their fit and styles. The Barebarics collection is a much more modern and stylish range of shoes and one I was very excited to try out.
The look
I was drawn to these trainers immediately. They are a modern looking shoe and I loved the high top style. There is a great selection of colours to choose from (blue was my particular favourite) and they come in both high top and trainer styles.
Sole
The sole of the shoe is very clever. It is zero drop but it has a removable insole which means you can enjoy a slightly more cushioned feel, or remove for a more traditional barefoot experience. I found both options very comfortable and the insole provided slightly more warmth in the colder weather which was a nice bonus.
Width
The toe box is excellent, one of the widest I have worn with more than enough room for toe movement. I was able to comfortably wear toe socks with lots of wiggle room left over.
Weight
I would say they are slightly heavier than other barefoot shoes/boots but this is not noticeable when they are on your feet.
Sizing and fit
The fit is generous but true to size. I wear my normal shoe size and would say I have slightly more room but not enough to want to size down.
Overall impressions
This is a lovely trainer. Because the look is quite different to my normal minimalist shoes I was not sure they would be as comfortable but I was very pleasantly surprised. I also think because of the option for a more cushioned zero drop sole they would be a fantastic transition shoe for someone wanting to move into less restrictive footwear.
