Having seen the winter (and spring) through in my very first pair of barefoot boots (Froddo) I was not ready to squeeze these newly liberated toes into any old pair of trainers. I need comfort and breathability during the summer so armed with my barefoot footwear knowledge and love of a stylish sneaker, I decided to give Be Lenka's new Rebound sneakers a go.
The Be Lenka Rebound were reasonably priced and vegan friendly and they looked like they were just what I was after.
The Be Lenka Rebound Sneakers in Red
Straight out of the box, I loved their look. That retro styling and bright red colour with the white detailing is just so iconic.
Though they have a chunky fun look, they are seriously barefoot; roomy in the toe and a super flexible, 5mm sole. I am told Be Lenka really did their research into foot shapes to develop their shoes and you can tell, as they have all the barefoot shoe properties you'd expect whilst still looking good.

I did have a second choice just in case, comparing them really favourably to the Origins sneaker by Peerko. The classic Converse style and their wide range of bright colour choices are a real draw, and while the Rebounds do come in a little heavier than the Peerko sneakers, they are still lighter than any other trainer in my wardrobe.
I went with my first choice and took the Rebounds on a walk through Chester, giving them a workout on the Roman walls.
The Rebounds have a well fitting, padded collar that sits snug on my heels and it made for a really comfortable easy trek around the city, especially flexing them up and down the steps.
While the day was humid, the breathability of these trainers, aided by those little eyelets that classic sneakers have, meant that my feet stayed cool all day long.
All in all a 10/10 for Be Lenka Rebound!
