With September looming we are hoping to provide a comprehensive overview of all things school shoe related.
One of the most frequently asked questions we hear at HLS HQ is, which school shoes are available in larger junior sizes.
What are the options?
Froddo deliver a beautifully crafted, traditional school shoe, available in four different styles. Ranging from an infant 10 all the way up to a junior 8. They are the perfect combination of flexibility meets durability, which is no mean feat in the barefoot business. Made from a super soft, high quality leather, these will be sure to keep the kids comfortable. They are a wide to extra wide fit and can accommodate a higher instep quite easily.
PaperKrane our resident Ozzy brand, offer a Mary Jane and a Boot style along with their new Ruler, a triple velcro unisex shoe. All are marketed as a medium fit but roomy enough for a slightly chunkier foot due to the supple engineering of the shoe. One of the most barefoot school shoes we stock, they are truly zero drop, easy to put on and remove and perfect for the most reluctant of school shoe wearers. Super cool, lightweight and durable too, both styles are available up to a Size 6 Junior.
Vivobarefoot, one of the cornerstones of Happy Little Soles, produce both the Primus Junior and the Wyn. They are generally suited to a medium to wide fit and have a sporty, contemporary look, aesthetically pleasing to older, more style conscious kids. These are available up to a Junior 5.5.
Tikki have recently produced a couple of lovely options on their super soft barefoot sole unit, the Moon low ankle boots and the Harlequin leather shoes. Both go all the way up to an EU39 or UK6 junior. Made from a super soft, high quality leather, these are the ultimate in barefoot comfort, are an extra wide fit and accommodate a higher instep nicely.
Camper a brand synonymous with quality offer three styles of school shoe, the Peu, a medium wide fit, available in a traditional boot or shoe and the Camper Right Black, a ballet pump which is perfect for narrower shallower feet. Two completely different fits but both offering the next best experience to being barefoot. There’s a few colour variations available in these, a great accompaniment to any uniform. Available up to a UK5 Junior
Finally, we have the Zeazoo Akita, available up to a UK4 Junior, a medium to wide fit, with lots of depth and wiggle room. Designed for all day comfort, they are lightweight, flexible and zero drop. Traditional and silicon laces included for your convenience.
Bigger again?
Unfortunately many school shoe ranges do stop as Kids get beyond the EU39/UK6, or thereabouts, and if you need bigger sizes again then it does tend to mean looking at the adult ranges. In our school shoe selection we have also included some of the most popular adult styles that can be used as school shoes to give all the options available.
