Kids Barefoot Wellies

Barefoot wellies are waterproof wellington boots designed to allow children's feet to move naturally. Unlike traditional wellies, which can be heavy stiff or narrow, barefoot wellies typically feature a wide, foot-shaped toe box, a thin and flexible sole and a flat, zero-drop design.

The wide toe box gives growing toes plenty of room to spread naturally, while the flexible sole allows the foot to bend and move more freely. Lightweight construction can also make it easier for children to walk, run and play in.

Children's wellies should have plenty of room around the toes without being so large that the foot slides around inside the boot. The toes should be able to spread naturally, with sufficient growing room in front of the longest toe, while the heel should remain reasonably secure when your child walks.

Don't automatically size up when buying wellies. Different brands and styles can vary considerably in their internal length, width and overall volume, so we recommend measuring your child's feet and checking the individual sizing and fitting information for the wellies you are considering.

Once the wellies arrive, let your child walk around indoors to make sure they can move comfortably without excessive heel lifting, slipping or tripping.

The best kids' wellies for wide feet have a broad, foot-shaped toe box that gives the toes plenty of room to spread without being squeezed together. Flexible soles and lightweight materials can also make wide-fit wellies more comfortable and allow the foot to move more naturally.

 Some barefoot wellies are designed specifically for colder weather and feature warm or thermal linings to help keep little feet comfortable. Other lightweight, unlined wellies are better suited to milder or warmer conditions.

For Autumn and Winter, look for children's wellies with fleece, wool or thermal linings, or choose a style with enough room to comfortably accommodate suitable socks or boot liners.

Fit is particularly important in cold weather. Wellies should have enough space for toes to move freely and for warmer socks where required, without being excessively loose.
