It's August already, and we've been wondering how July slipped by so quietly!
The past month brought everything we hoped for from the heart of summer. School finished and holidays began. Suitcases were packed, campsites filled up, and the outdoors became extensions of our living rooms. After months of planning and counting down, July was the month when summer holidays finally arrived.
For many of us, it wasn't the big events that made the month memorable. It was the smaller moments. Early morning walks before the heat of the day. Ice creams that melted faster than expected. Paddles in the sea. Exploring somewhere new. Long evenings spent outside. The feeling of having nowhere urgent to be.
July is always a fascinating month for us because we get a glimpse into so many different summer stories.
Some of our customers have been heading abroad, carefully planning every item in their suitcase. Others were staying closer to home and making the most of our beautiful beaches, parks, and countryside. Different destinations, different adventures, but all with one thing in common: spending more time outdoors.
Sandals Season
Here at Happy Little Soles, as you can imagine, it's been wonderfully busy. July's heatwave has had us all reaching for lighter footwear or kicking our shoes off altogether whenever possible. After all, there's nothing quite like feeling the cooling effects of grass beneath your feet on a warm summer's day.
School Shoes
At the same time, we are right in the middle of our busiest school shoes season. We are busy helping families get organised before the back-to-school rush.
Whether you're buying a very first pair for a new starter or sizing up for someone whose feet have mysteriously grown out of their shoes again, we know how much there is to think about this time of year, so our aim is always to make things a bit easier. Along with an even bigger choice in school-compliant footwear, we have extended our returns period for school shoes to a huge 60 days.
The good news is that healthy school footwear has come a long way. From vegan-friendly choices, classic Mary Janes and trendy ballet flats, to trainer style shoes and boots that are built to withstand all weathers, there are now more options than ever to support growing feet through all the running, climbing, learning, and exploring that a school day brings.
But if we're honest, the new school year still feels a long way off. There's plenty of summer left to enjoy before sharpened pencils and packed lunchboxes make a return. So for now, we're making the most of beach days, garden afternoons, ice creams in the sunshine, and all those little moments that have made July such a special month.
Behind the scenes, July has been busy too.
While many people were enjoying well-earned breaks, we were continuing to prepare for the seasons ahead, working with brands, receiving new deliveries and planning exciting things for later in the year.
And just like that, July has become another month of memories.
As we move into August, we're taking a moment to appreciate everything the last few weeks have brought. The sunshine, the adventures, the slower pace and the chance to spend more time together. Summer is far from over, but July has already given us plenty to smile about.
